She is known for her roles in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2006-2008), Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev (2011-2014), Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq (2012-2013), and Naagin (2015-2016, 2016-2017). Early Life and Education
Mouni Roy was born on September 28, 1985, in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, India, into a Bengali Rajbongshi Hindu family. She is the eldest daughter of the family and has a younger brother, Mukhar Roy. Her grandfather, Shekhar Chandra Roy, was a renowned Jatra theatre artist. Her father, Anil Roy, was the office superintendent of the Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad, and her mother, Mukti Roy, was a theatre artist.
She studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Baburhat, Cooch Behar, until the 12th grade, and then she moved to Delhi. She completed her graduation from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She then studied mass communication at Jamia Millia Islamia at her parents' insistence but left the course midway and moved to Mumbai to try her luck in the Hindi film industry.
She has been passionate about acting and dancing since childhood and has cited actresses Madhubala, Madhuri Dixit, and Waheeda Rehman as her idols. She is a well-trained Kathak and ballet dancer.
