Madhurima Goswami was born in 1989 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, into a Brahmin caste family. She belongs to a family where both of her parents were involved in theatre. Her father, mime artist Niranjan Goswami, is a theatre actor and director. She attended Holy Child Girls' High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University. Later, she pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Drama with a specialization in Direction from the same university. While pursuing her undergraduate studies, she worked with two theatre groups, Uhinee Kolkata and Nandipath.
She was awarded the National Scholarship in Children's Theatre Direction in 2008 and the Junior Fellowship in Mime in 2022 from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She has acted in numerous plays and directed several for various institutions, organizations, and theatre and mime groups. She is currently active as an actor and director with Hatibagan Sangharam Theatre Group and Indian Mime Theatre. She has been invited by various organizations as a speaker at seminars and webinars. She has also participated in numerous workshops as a resource person, working with children and adolescent boys and girls. She collaborated with Swar Sangam to train students at schools in different states run by the Birlas. She can sing, dance, and play a few instruments.
She made her big-screen debut in a supporting role in the Assamese film Morisika (2016), directed by Nipon Dholua. Later, in 2022, she appeared in the Hindi film Lost (2022), directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury. The film stars Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, and Pia Bajpiee.
Madhurima Goswami is married to Anirban Bhattacharya, an actor in the Bengali entertainment industry. The couple met while working together in the theatre group Hatibagan Sangharam and got married on November 26, 2020. Their wedding was a simple affair held at the National Mime Institute in Salt Lake City.
