Died
Madhubala died on February 23, 1969, in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, at the age of 36 due to a ventricular septal defect (VSD), commonly known as a 'hole in the heart.' She was buried at Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz, Bombay, along with her personal diary. Her tomb was built with marble, and its inscriptions included Ayats from the Quran and verse dedications. In 2010, Madhubala's tomb, along with those of other industry stalwarts, including Mohammed Rafi and Sahir Ludhianvi, was demolished to make room for new interments. Her remains were relocated to an unknown location.
