Early Life and Education
Debojyoti Mishra was born on April 30, 1960, in South Kolkata, West Bengal, India. His ancestral home was in the Faridpur district of Bangladesh. Both of his parents moved to Kolkata, where he was brought up in Colony Para, Tollygunge. His father, Jahnabi Ranjan Mishra, worked in a bank, and his mother was Gauri Devi. He has an elder brother, Debashis Mishra, who learned to play the violin. Their family struggled with poverty.
