Amir Jangoo: West Indies Wicketkeeper-Batsman

Amir Jangoo is a Trinidad and Tobago cricketer who plays as a left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman. He was born on July 14, 1997, in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on December 12, 2024, during the third ODI of the series against Bangladesh.

Domestic Career

Amir Jangoo has played for various domestic teams, including Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, West Indies Championship XI, Jamaica Tallawahs, Leeward Islands, Trinbago Knight Riders, University of West Indies Vice-Chancellor's XI, Combined Campuses and Colleges, and West Indies Under-19s.

Amir Jangoo made his List A debut for the West Indies Under-19s in the 2014–15 Regional Super50 on January 16, 2015. He made his first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition on April 7, 2017. He made his Twenty20 debut on September 2, 2020, for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

International Career

In December 2024, he was named for the first time in the West Indies ODI squad for the three-match series against Bangladesh. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 12 December 2024 in the 3rd ODI of the series. He scored an unbeaten century (104*) on his international debut, becoming the second West Indian player to score a century on ODI debut. He achieved the fastest century on ODI debut, reaching the milestone in just 80 balls. This broke the previous record held by South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks, who took 88 balls.
